  2. I have several favorite books, but if I had to pick one, it would be The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. It was the first book I read as a child, and I still remember the lessons it taught me about friendship, love, and compassion.

  4. Favorite? Arrrgh! I can't believe you're asking such a tough question of readers. It's like asking me to identify my favorite vital organ... pet... child... family member... It's impossible! However, To Kill a Mockingbird has to be the one book that has spoken to me most often. I always seem to come away from the book with some new truth or understanding. As for series... Hm. You'll hate this, but if I'm going to go all girlie, I'd do it with the Principles of Love series by Emily Franklin. They're witty and clever. They've got a great dose of girlie balanced out nicely with reality. I don't do much scifi, but I enjoyed the Inheritance series as well... Non-fiction? Hm... Oh! I love Erik Larson. Devil in the White City is fabulous! See? This task is wayyy too hard!

  5. The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy is my favorite book of all time. This tale of a dysfunctional southern family will make anyone feel better about their own family. Conroy's prose is simply beautiful and heartbreaking. He writes poetically about the pain of abuse and the redeeming power of love.
